Tránna Brat Gorm na Gaillimhe Céard is bithéagsulacht ann? What is biodiversity? Biodiversity is a term used to describe how every living thing is connected. Tá gach ní beo ceangailte ar bhealach éigin. We are all connected in some way. Tugann an bhithéagsúlacht gach rud dúinn. Biodiversity gives us many things, aer agus uisce glan, fresh air and clean running water, bia/food, múirniú/composting, cogais/medicine, áiteanna deasa spraoi, nice peaceful places to play and rest, ábhar tógala/ building materials. In other words we cannot survive without it.
Tá an t-úfás faoin ár gcosa, bí ómósach do gach éiceachóras/ there is much beneath our feet, respect all ecosystems. Rang 6 ag cur prátaí, Márta 2013:

Óstán na bhFeithidí / Insect Hotel:
Don 5ú Brat Glas, rinneamar Óstán na bhFeithidí. Choinnigh na daltaí súil ar na feithidí ar fad a chonaíonn ann & d'fhoghlaim siad fúthú! Tá an "t-óstán" suite in aice le Seomra 12, Inis Meáin, ar chúl na scoile.
As part of the work for our 5th Green Flag, we made an Insect Hotel. Pupils observed & learnt about the insects who live there. The Insect Hotel is situated beside Room 12, Inis Meáin, behind the school. Go raibh maith agat! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * An Gairdín Scoile Féach céard a d'fhás inár ngairdín!! Rinneamar anraith bhlasta!! Look what we grew in our garden!! We made delicious soup!!

Lá Náisiúnta Glanadh Suas / National Spring Clean.
Ghlanadh Náisiúnta an Earraigh. Pupils from 5th class cleaned the school yard & surrounding area, as part of the National Spring Clean initiative.
Fuair Scoil Shéamais Naofa an 4ú Brat Glas in 2010! Bhí ceiliúradh againn freisin d’oscailt an fhoscadáin rothair in 2010. We were awarded our 4th Green Flag in 2010! We also celebrated the opening of our bicycle shelter in 2010. ******************************************
Ó 2011-2013, d'oibríomar ar thionscnamh Comenius, 'Sowing the seeds of the Future' le scoileanna sa
From 2011-2013, we worked on a Comenius project, 'Sowing the Seeds of the Future' with schools in France, Germany, Hungary & Slovenia. Our school garden & local environment were the focal points of this project. Chuireamar uibhneacha sa ghoradán ar 21ú Márta. Bhí orainn na huibheacha a iompú faoi dhó gach lá. Bhí orainn 'A' a scríobh ar thaobh amháin den ubh & 'B' ar an taobh eile de.... Ansin bhí a fhios againn cen taobh a bhí le hiompú! Chuireamar uisce sa ghoradán chun na huibheacha a choinneáil tais. Bhí 'scan' ag na huibheacha. Bhíomar in ann na sicíni a fheiceáil!
Lá amháin, phleasc blaosc ar chuid de na huibheacha. Rinne an sicín beag é seo le fiacail 'géaránach' ('eye tooth') a d'fhás siad. Ar 13ú Aibreáin, rugadh Shellbert ag 8.30.
Rugadh Rocky ag 12.59 & Eggward ag 15.06. Rugadh Gordo i lár na hoíche sin. Tháinig dhá shicín eile níos déanaí... Feathers & Yoko!

Over the last 2 years we have been working extremely hard towards achieving our 5th green flag, our theme: bioidiversity/bitheagsúlacht. Ar an 21ú Bealtaine bhí lá speisialta dóibh súid a bhfuil an théama sin bainte amach acu i nGaillimh. Tá Scoil Sheamais Naofa mar cuid den ghrúpa sin. We in Scoil Sheamais Naofa are delighted to be part of that group.
